If your preferences do not match the available volunteers or you did not submit a detailed application you may not be matched with a mentor.

It is possible, however the aim of the mentoring relationship is to expand your knowledge of career options and the working world. Often you can still learn a lot from a mentor in another field of work, so we ask mentees to keep an open mind.
While you can be prescriptive when completing your application form, please note, if you are very particular about the characteristics and field of work of your mentor it may limit your chances of being matched with an alumni mentor.

- We recommend at least three meetings with your mentor during the program. Meetings can be 30 minutes or longer, depending on the individual preferences
- In addition, you may email your mentor (frequency can be negotiated with your mentor in your first meeting)
- Attendance at a one hour pre-program workshop (for students), to provide you with preparation for the mentoring experience
- Between your meetings with your mentor, you will likely want to take some time to reflect on your discussions and to try to put some of the learnings or advice into action.
Meetings need to be scheduled at a location and time which is suitable for both parties, however it is preferable that mentees work around their mentor’s schedule.
If you meet the eligibility for several Mentoring at Melbourne programs you can go ahead and register for both programs. Please note that means you may potentially be matched with two mentors.
