Information for Mentors

The Career Mentoring Program matches selected students with business professionals in a mentoring partnership. The aim of this program is to assist students (mentees) with their career development, their transition from university into the workforce and to engage business professionals in a mutually beneficial partnership. Mentors assist their mentees in identifying and exploring career goals and professional development plans.

This program gives you the opportunity to contribute to the community whilst differentiating your career by further developing leadership and mentoring skills.

“I have enjoyed being part of the mentoring program over a number of years and being able to offer advice to young people who are keen to learn about how to navigate through the world of work”.

– Jon Aloni FCPA, General Manager - Victoria, Member Services, CPA Australia

Benefits of Participating

Apart from having a positive impact on the next generation, mentoring can give you a new perspective on your career and help to connect you with the latest research in your field.

The Mentor’s Role

The role of the mentor is to partner with the mentee in the development of their professional understanding and career goals.

The Screening and Matching Process

Due to the popularity of the FBE Career Mentor Program, student selection for this program is competitive.

Students must progress through a screening process to ensure their suitability for the program. We also ask mentors to register online to ensure we understand your background experience and skills in order for us to match you appropriately with a mentee.

A minimum of three years of professional work experience is required.

When matching mentors and mentees, we look at areas of study, professional experience, and interest areas of both individuals and try to match accordingly.

Selection of students and mentors to participate in the Career Mentoring Program is at the discretion of the Faculty of Business and Economics.
